Responsible for the organization and conception of the MKM Küppersmühle Museum of Modern Art is the Foundation for Art and Culture e.V.. As one of Germany‘s leading private museums, the MKM is funded almost exclusively from donations and sponsors’ contributions from the corporate sector.

Since the museum’s inauguration in 1999 the Foundation for Art and Culture e.V. has managed its business affairs, administrated the collection, conceived its exhibition schedule, and organized its projects.

Used for storing grain until the 1970s, the “Küppersmühle” has served as a centre for art since 1999. This imposing industrial monument is now home to the Museum of Modern Art.

The MKM is located at the heart of the vibrant cultural district of Duisburg’s Inner Harbour. Boasting the Ströher Collection, an international exhibition programme and its characteristic architecture, the MKM has become a key cultural attraction in the Ruhr region: an ideal location, at which to experience great art, admire stunning architecture or just walk around and soak up the unique atmosphere…
