Andreas Mühe – Photography

On September 11th, 2018, the Foundation for Art and Culture has inaugurated the retrospective “Andreas Mühe – Photography” at Beijing’s Red Brick Art Museum. The staging of this presentation of photographs is also a consequence of the landmark exhibition “Deutschland 8” held in autumn 2017.

“Only on the basis of the close and successful cooperation with the Beijing art museums, was it possible to organise at such short notice a follow-up project and mount a comprehensive solo exhibition, dedicated to one of the participating artists. In concert with our Chinese partners and our culture partner, the Volkswagen Group, the Foundation for Art and Culture is committed to promoting intercultural dialogue between Germany and China. We wish to continue this engagement in the future, and perceive this exhibition as the encouraging start to a series of further presentations of German artists in the People’s Republic of China.”

“Since its inauguration four years ago, the Red Brick Art Museum has dedicated itself to staging exhibitions of international contemporary art and to fostering intercultural exchange. The exhibition of the photographic artist Andreas Mühe seeks to promote cultural and artistic dialogue between China and Germany and afford the Chinese public a keen insight into German society, culture and history.”

“Photography is an important exchange of information and feelings and a way to learn from one another” said Prof. Dr. Jochem Heizmann, Member of the Board of Management of Volkswagen Aktiengesellschaft as well as President and CEO of Volkswagen Group China. “I’m convinced this exhibition will connect German and Chinese culture in a very exciting and inspiring way. It fits perfectly with Volkswagen Group China’s cultural and social activities, where mutual exchange and education are our principal pillars. We are delighted to support Mr. Mühe’s first solo exhibition in China, as he was already one of the artists who made the “Deutschland 8” exhibition in 2017 a great success story.”
