SUSAN SWARTZ

PERSONAL PATH

October 11, 2018 to November 4, 2018
CAFA Art Museum, Beijing

The spirituality of nature and painting as a contemplative process are the key themes addressed by the American artist Susan Swartz. Starting from scenic impressions, Swartz creates abstract paintings challenging us to reflect fundamentally upon the dimension and the structures of our very existence. To appreciate the meditative aura of her paintings a mindful mode of seeing is required. For her work neither articulates clearly defined themes nor elevates abstraction to the subject matter itself.

After locations in Europe (Salzburg, Koblenz, Budapest and St. Petersburg), the artist is now staging her solo exhibition “Personal Path” for the first time in Asia. 120 of her paintings are on view until November 4, 2018 in the Art Museum of Central Academy of Fine Arts (CAFA Art Museum) in China’s capital Beijing.
